The common claim
What’s commonly claimed, and what the evidence supports
A common claim is that Costco's Kirkland mattress is made by Zinus. That confuses two different Costco products: Zinus sells its own Zinus-branded mattresses at Costco, and Novaform is Costco's separate memory-foam brand; neither is the Kirkland Signature line. Costco's Kirkland mattress is openly co-branded "Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster," and Stearns & Foster (a Tempur Sealy International brand) is the manufacturer.
Evidence & sources
Each source is graded on the six-tier evidence rubric, where tier 1 is strongest. Sources are archived, so a citation still works if the original page moves or goes behind a paywall.
Tier 4
"When it comes to Kirkland brand mattresses, though, Costco doesn't try to hide its manufacturing partner: Stearns & Foster." Documents the on-label co-brand "Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster" (Lakeridge model) and identifies Stearns & Foster (a Tempur Sealy International brand) as the maker. The co-brand printed in the product name is itself the tier-4 on-label anchor; this article documents it. By Kyle Schurman, 2024-08-19.
Tier 4
Independent mattress-review coverage documenting the same on-label co-brand: "Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster Hope Bay," and repeatedly naming Stearns & Foster as the maker of Costco's Kirkland Signature mattresses. Corroborates the House Digest naming and shows the co-brand across more than one model (Lakeridge and Hope Bay).
