The common claim
What’s commonly claimed, and what the evidence supports
A common answer is that nobody knows who makes Kirkland luggage, or that it is a generic import. For the hardside line that is not the case: Costco sold its polycarbonate spinner under the co-brand 'Kirkland Signature by Samsonite,' naming Samsonite on Costco's own product title (item 667722), an on-label co-brand, the same way Kirkland mattresses are co-branded 'by Stearns & Foster.' Costco's softside Kirkland spinners were a separate product reported to come from Ricardo Beverly Hills.
Evidence & sources
Each source is graded on the six-tier evidence rubric, where tier 1 is strongest. Sources are archived, so a citation still works if the original page moves or goes behind a paywall.
Tier 4
Documents Costco's own co-branded product title 'Kirkland Signature by Samsonite 29" Hardside Spinner' (item number 667722; post tags list 'Kirkland Signature, Luggage, Samsonite'), 'Made with Bayer Makrolon polycarbonate high performance material.' The key fact is Costco's on-label co-brand, which prints Samsonite in the product name, the same class of tier-4 evidence as the 'Kirkland Signature by Stearns & Foster' mattress. The blog's aside ('Kirkland Signature has teamed up with Samsonite to manufacture this spinner') reacts to that co-brand; the co-branded name itself is the anchor.
Tier 6
Costco-shopper thread corroborating the hardside/softside split. One poster 'bought the Kirkland Signature 29" hardside spinner ... a polycarbonate case made from Makrolon' (Samsonite's shell material, per the co-branded product); another, chasing warranty parts, wrote 'I've talked to Ricardo Beverly Hills again and they ... are backordered on the wheels,' documenting that Costco's softside Kirkland spinner came from Ricardo Beverly Hills, a different maker than the co-branded Samsonite hardside. Tier 6 (forum); included as split/recency corroboration, not as the naming anchor.
