Who makes Kirkland Signature Professional Salon Formula Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner (33.8 fl oz)?
As of August 31, 2026, evidence points to Cosway Company, Inc. as the manufacturer of Kirkland Signature Professional Salon Formula Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner (33.8 fl oz), but no tier 1–3 source names the link directly.
The common claim
What’s commonly claimed, and what the evidence supports
The best-known claim is that Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo comes from the same manufacturer as Pureology (a L'Oreal-owned brand), essentially a Pureology dupe; a newer theory points to Olaplex instead, based on ingredient overlap. Neither claim is backed by hard evidence; both rest on formula and scent similarity, and Costco reformulated the product in 2021 and again in 2023, after which reviewers stopped calling it a Pureology match. Costco's product-detail data names Cosway Company, Inc. as the manufacturer of record for both the shampoo and the conditioner, so the evidence points to Cosway rather than Pureology or Olaplex.
Evidence & sources
Each source is graded on the six-tier evidence rubric, where tier 1 is strongest. Sources are archived, so a citation still works if the original page moves or goes behind a paywall.
Tier 4
Costco's manufacturer field (mfName in its product-detail catalog data) reads "COSWAY COMPANY INC" for Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo (33.8 fl oz, item 100745514). As a sole route this field caps at probable (it can name a filler/supplier of record rather than a specific formulator). Directly contradicts the Pureology and Olaplex rumors. Verified via Wayback snapshot; costco.com blocks live fetch.
Tier 4
Costco's manufacturer field (mfName in its product-detail catalog data) reads "COSWAY COMPANY INC" for Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner (33.8 fl oz, item 100746247). The matching conditioner carries the same manufacturer-of-record, corroborating the shampoo attribution across both halves of the set.
