The common claim
What’s commonly claimed, and what the evidence supports
Nearly all top-ranking answers say Diamond Pet Foods makes Kirkland dog food, and here the consensus is supported — Costco's own pet-food FAQ and the FDA's 2012 recall notice both name Diamond directly.
Evidence & sources
Each source is graded on the six-tier evidence rubric, where tier 1 is strongest. Sources are archived, so a citation still works if the original page moves or goes behind a paywall.
Tier 2
FDA recall notice names Kirkland Signature Super Premium Adult Dog Lamb, Rice & Vegetable Formula and other Kirkland dog formulas among Diamond Pet Foods brands recalled from its Gaston, S.C. plant — direct co-packer naming, but it evidences 2012, not the present; URL is FDA's official archive-it copy of the retired fda.gov page.
Tier 4
Costco's own FAQ: 'Where are the Kirkland Signature Pet Foods made?' — 'All of the dry foods are made by Diamond Pet Foods in five company owned manufacturing facilities, all in the United States.'; wording verified from the 2025-02-28 snapshot because the live page blocks automated fetches — recheck the live page at next verification.
