Who makes Kirkland Signature Tequila (Silver, Reposado, Añejo)?
As of July 5, 2026, evidence points to Corporativo Destileria Santa Lucia, S.A. de C.V. as the manufacturer of Kirkland Signature Tequila (Silver, Reposado, Añejo), but no tier 1–3 source names the link directly.
The common claim
What’s commonly claimed, and what the evidence supports
Top answers disagree — many older articles and aggregators still repeat the superseded La Madrileña (NOM 1142) attribution or guess at bigger-name distilleries, but the NOM 1173 reported (unverified) on current bottles resolves via the CRT registry to Corporativo Destileria Santa Lucia, whose certified-brands entry includes Kirkland Signature — though a Kirkland Signature registration also remains under the superseded producer, so bottle-level NOMs are the check.
Evidence & sources
Each source is graded on the six-tier evidence rubric, where tier 1 is strongest. Sources are archived, so a citation still works if the original page moves or goes behind a paywall.
Tier 3
CRT certified-brands table lists brand KIRKLAND SIGNATURE under CORPORATIVO DESTILERIA SANTA LUCIA, S.A. DE C.V., NOM 1173 (DOT 115); a legacy KIRKLAND SIGNATURE row also remains under LA MADRILEÑA, S.A. DE C.V., NOM 1142.
Tier 6
Community NOM-database mirror (unverified): current producer for Kirkland Signature tequilas shown as NOM 1173, Corporativo Destileria Santa Lucia S.A. de C.V. ('Newton'), Jalisco, with additional past distilleries NOM 1472, 1438, and 1142.
Tier 6
Press mirror of NOM data (unverified): reports every current Kirkland tequila expression — blanco, reposado, añejo, extra añejo — carries NOM 1173, the Santa Lucía distillery in Jalisco.
Tier 6
Press report (unverified): current production at 'Corporate Distillery Santa Lucia' in Tesistán, outside Guadalajara (NOM 1173), with prior producer La Madrileña (NOM 1142) being phased out as of publication.
Tier 6
Press report (unverified): identifies Kirkland Signature tequila as NOM 1173, 'currently produced at Newton (Destileria Santa Lucia)', while covering an Oct 2025 class action alleging cane sugar in the '100% agave' bottlings.

| → | Fábrica de Tequilas Finos, S.A. de C.V. | NOM 1472 — attributed (unverified) as the prior distillery for the Añejo and some Silver bottlings, per Agave Matchmaker community bottle logs; exact date range not evidenced. | Agave Matchmaker (formerly Tequila Matchmaker) ↗ |
| → | Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (Casa Maestri) | NOM 1438 — attributed (unverified) as the prior distillery for the Reposado and some Silver bottlings, per Agave Matchmaker community bottle logs; exact date range not evidenced. | Agave Matchmaker (formerly Tequila Matchmaker) ↗ |
| → | La Madrileña, S.A. de C.V. | NOM 1142 — attributed (unverified) as the earlier producer of Kirkland tequila; Tasting Table (2023-11-01) reported it being phased out in favor of Santa Lucia. A KIRKLAND SIGNATURE brand registration still appears under La Madrileña on the CRT certified-brands list dated 2026-06-23, but no current bottling under NOM 1142 is reported. | Tasting Table ↗ |
